Individual Counselling
and Psychotherapy

Individual counselling and psychotherapy can be beneficial at any stage of life and can address a range of issues and experiences you may be struggling with. It can help you navigate complex difficulties at work or at home and gain self-awareness to understand your personal responses to life's challenges. Counselling can also be a proactive step in addressing problems before they emerge or develop.

I believe that our understanding of ourselves is continually evolving and the more self-aware we can be, the more equipped we are to make decisions and choices that increase our wellbeing and happiness, leading to happier and more fulfilling lives.

I offer an integrated and holistic approach that is relational, trauma informed and drawn from numerous evidence-based therapies. I work collaboratively with you to create a safe and supportive space to explore the issues you want to address. My compassion focused approach has developed from my formal university training combined with over 20 years’ experience working with a wide array of people from all walks of life. I have worked with clients experiencing a range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, grief and trauma and relationship difficulties.

Relationship Counselling and Coaching

Relationships can be the fuel that feeds our deepest happiness and inner contentment or the source of our greatest pain, heartache and inner turmoil. Research on happiness has consistently shown that healthy relationships are at the heart of our mental health and overall wellbeing. I love to work with couples and all types of relationships as the impact of building healthier, happy connections with each other, can have profound and long-lasting effects on many.

Often people choose relationship counselling to address difficulties they are having with their intimate partner; however relationship counselling can support other relationships as well such as those with our family members, children and friends. Our relationship with ourselves and how we experience ourselves with others sits at the center of all our relationships and difficulties we may have. This is why I offer an embodied approach to counselling and psychotherapy, exploring emotions, patterns of behaviour and unresolved trauma, as how you show up for yourself in life matters.

I have extensive experience of working with all constellations of couples and relationships and understand that each relationship is unique with its own strengths and challenges. I use a compassion focussed approach drawn from over 20 years of experience and training in multiple evidence-based therapies to explore with you the topics and difficulties you wish to discuss.

There is no greater source of joy and meaning in our lives than our relationships with others.

Professional
Supervision

Professional supervision is essential for all therapists in the 'helping professions'. I provide a safe, relational and empowering space for all therapists to reflect and further develop their practice skills and professional selves. Supervision is a supportive environment in which therapists can grow professionally and ensure their professional self-care is being considered. I believe that high quality supervision is fundamental for the wellbeing of practitioners, and therefore the safe practice for clients.

I am committed to providing clinical supervision with an emphasis on self-reflection, relational trust, safety and professional development. With in-depth training and more than 12 years’ experience as a Clinical Supervisor in Private, NGO and Tertiary Education sectors, I support clinicians in all stages of their career, from trainee and newly qualified therapists to those with extensive practice experience. Supervision helps the therapist to become more aware of their practice, develop their skills and is a protective factor against vicarious trauma. I am committed to providing a trauma informed, strengths-based, empowering service for the practitioner, so they can grow in their professional practice and continue to self-reflect in an honest and supportive environment.

I am currently engaged in research in Trauma Informed Clinical Supervision at QUT

Supervision is available for all allied health professionals including social workers, counsellors, psychologists, psychotherapists, community and youth workers. I deliver individual and group sessions face-to-face in the Gold Coast and Brisbane areas and via zoom nationwide.

Professional Retreats for Therapists

Therapists are some of the most hard-working, giving and empathic people I have encountered in life. Working as a therapist requires a real and authentic presence to be with clients at all times in order to support their needs. Over the years and during times of mass distress, such as the COVID pandemic, therapists are being called upon more than ever to provide support, which at times can be hard to sustain. Clinical supervision is one way that therapists can mitigate burnout and apply self-care to their professional selves, however, sometimes more is needed. The retreats I run focus on nourishment, self-reflection and deep restorative care for therapists while at the same time offering a space for clinical supervision in which professional challenges can be unpacked and explored. If you are interested in attending a retreat either locally or overseas in 2023 or 2024, please contact me for more information.

Rest and self care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve others from an empty vessel.
